North-South line

The fire safety requirements of the North-South line are based on the safe harbour principle. No matter what happens, a subway always runs to the next station. Here passengers can safely escape. As the metro continues to the next station, the underground stations at Central Station, Rokin, Vijzelgracht, de Pijp and Europaplein have very strict fire safety requirements. Hoefnagels Branddeuren developed and installed the smoke curtains. The smoke curtains are designed in such a way that in the event of a calamity a metro can pass through the curtains to reach the platform.

In addition to the smoke curtains, 4 fire-resistant roller curtains and 2 fire-resistant sliding doors were installed.
